Surrendering shiversA Poem by What happened to simple old me?Just one of those winter evenings, think 1920s, romance in it's height. Just plain and simple yet so perfect, just the bliss of wanting one another. It's enough; you by my side.
Take her with you, down that road, no jumping on the pavements.
The streets are clear tonight. Swinging arms, shadows spinning on the walls of these two, glass reflects their everlasting smiles, bright shine, tonight is light for them.
Entreaty on behalf of both, each has what the other wants. You surrendered to her sweetly that night, as she held your in her touch. Though not that she knew, she was in yours; the only one to who you'd openly show this side. But don't shiver this moment, as you stand under street lit lights. Gothic, curled cast iron hangs daintily above as you kiss her head. for no colour is here tonight, just a warm sepia tone, filling the coldest corners, taking the damp remorse that lingered here once before. but that was long ago, a time of someone else. Their story not as light and soft, only on dark winter nights did they come - you brought the past out of itself, created it new. Just like an old photograph times fell simple on lucky hearts that had no cares, have no cares, no worries as today does. You brought back spirited spices, misty yet refreshed, Though I only inhale your breath, warmth to my heart, you take hold of her scarf. © 2010 What happened to simple old me? |
