Sugarcoated Lies

Sugarcoated Lies

A Poem by Emily Irene.
"

About the ending of a friendship and how fake she had become.

"

So tell me, honey,
how have you been holding up?
I sometimes see your pictures
when I get the time,
the courage,
the strength,
or maybe just the weakness.
You look so beautiful still
and oh, how you look happy now.

But are you really?
Do you feel that smile?
Or are you jacked up on artificial sweetener?
The fake sugar makes everything go down easier.

Hell,
the way you sugarcoat things,
I can even accept the fact
that maybe,
you just never
     even loved me
          to begin with.

Edgy lines. I like it.
