Grassy Recollections

Grassy Recollections

A Poem by Emily Irene.
"

My last memory of my father.

"

Dew on the grass
from the early morning rain
sends a slight shiver down my spine
as I think of him.
The man I once idolized
yet now miss,
obsess over,
cry over.

I will always remember
getting ready for grade school.
The firm tug of him brushing my hair.
The film rolls on in my mind
when deja vu strikes and I think of how the park smelled
as we drove through it five mornings a week.

And on this day
as I sit on wet cement,
I can almost hear his infectious laugh
in the whispers of the wind on the grass.

really beautiful, you've taken every day objects and routines and made them emotive and put your own feelings and personality into the poem. well done :)
