What Do You Say?

What Do You Say?

A Poem by Emily Irene.
"

December 2008; inspired by "The Pretender" by Foo Fighters and the cynicism of Chuck Palahniuk.

"

What if I say you're not like the others?
What if I say you're not just another?
Would you believe my words,
flowing through the atmosphere
like rain falling down on the sand?
What if I say you're different from the rest?
What if I say you're beautiful,
inside and out?
Would you believe my words,
flowing freely,
as freely as though you had just unchained them
from a lifetime's imprisonment?
Come on,
what do you say:
would you believe the lies?
