Madness As Two

Madness As Two

A Poem by Emily Irene.
"

Written about me and my old friend Benjamin.

"
We built our bond on alcohol
and sealed it on pills galore.
But there was,
somewhere beneath the surface,
something deeper,
something more than inebriation @ 3AM.

Let's not forget our madness.
Don't let it fade away.
I can bear almost anything
but I won't be forgotten.

It seems to me the alcohol and drugs you speak of was the link between two kindred spirits owning some of the same qualities, yet both either searching for answers to too many questions, or both trying to cope with a past that was less than ideal. The bond you shared was special because somewhere deep inside, you both related to each other on some level. Sometimes in those circumstances, words are not even important at times. I like the impact of the ending. Well done.
