Faithless

Faithless

A Poem by SypherDostravius

When I reminisce

Ignorance was bliss

Another ride inside

My lonely world

Care to join me?

I know why

I feel like I’m faithless

And ready to fall

With every step

Cold kisses freeze my heart

Within a fading memory

Here I lay frozen

Forgotten

Left with my dreams

Of what once was....

Sounds like the phrase "cold possession of a memory" would fit with this. An excellent poem, if cold. According to some tenets of demonology one reason why Hell is so hot is because it's an attempt to actually stave off the cold--the cold of being away from the warmth of grace.

Ignorance is bliss? But, if what I'm gathering from this, is it really worth erasing the memories from that time--no matter how bad it might have gotten? For instance, the movie "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind." It's one thing to want to forget the bad times, that which has now led to faithlessness, but what about the good times? Those moments that instilled you with the feeling that yeah, just maybe, I can believe.
