Not Your Life

Not Your Life

A Poem by SypherDostravius

Here I stand

Not wanting to face

What is in front of me

Too many expectations

Can’t keep up

I keep running

I keep falling

Everything you said

I’ve tried to do

You said “jump”

And I said “how high”

I can’t do it anymore

I’ve ran out of energy

Finally burnt out

Now is my time to rest

Take a break

And smell the roses

I want to fall in love

I want to be loved

Now is my time

In my head

There’s only her now

In this world of real

And make believe

Just let me go

Just let me rest

Let me enjoy

The sunlight

And fresh air

I’m tired of being somebody

I’m not trying

To be somebody else

This is my life I’m living

Don’t make me be somebody else

I have walked off stage

And left the building

This is my time

This is my life

Now I live it…
