Death's Embrace

Death's Embrace

A Poem by SypherDostravius

It’s cold and dark inside this lonely place.

The sound of drums drowns out my thoughts
As I slowly slip into madness.
My hatred builds as my mind darkens
The light no longer shines through
The haze that covered my once brilliant eyes.
A voice hearkens that snaps me back into reality
“Alex come to me, come to me.”
The drums prevent me from figuring out where
The voice had come.
I stumble through the darkness
The glass cutting into the soft skin of my bare feet.
“Alex come to me, Come to me”
I trip and fall landing hard on the ground
The glass cutting into my face and chest
I struggle to stay conscious as the blood clouds my vision
“Alex come to me, come to me”
As I stand a womanly figure shines before me
And takes me in her arms
And for that instant everything is right
My vision fades and my mind slows
And I finally rest in peace…

More straightforward than what the title implies...I would wonder..

What if someone read this without knowing what the title was?

You know, when reading this I imagine it is what it's like: When a Tibetan Buddhist dies someone reading from the Book of the Dead whispers into their ear, explaining to them that all the wonderful and terrible things they are seeing and experiencing as their mind slips away into oblivion is alright, that it's not real. Stay calm, see through it all, and walk forward.

"There are other worlds than these."

Beautiful. I know exactly how you feel. I love the imagery and the feelings this evoked.
