Prologue

A Chapter by Mike L. Smyth

The light from the Moon illuminates the small, miniscule opening in the forest floor. Blood drips from the blade of a sword recently used. The smell of cooking meat fills the the air, in a satisfying and intense fragrant. Everything is quiet, only the small clacking of insects reverberates in the trees. Clouds smatter the sky, leaving uneven and unusual patterns. A horrible scraping noise burns a hole in the near, almost silent night, as if something is grinding bones on a sharp, rusty blade.
