The Price of FreedomA Poem by Mike L. SmythWhy we are free...Bloodshed in vain Endless morale shattered Brightened hearts blackened Eyes turned to dark voids I look into the hazy distance Everything lost and nothing gained A tear trickles from my face Dropping to the blood stained grass Not enough to cleanse the plague Existing only for a blink of an eye My purpose is no longer known Abandoned by the Sun Engulfed by the dark clouds Trapped in my own insanity All hope lost instantly Horrible loss of life For the price of freedom
