"The Novelty of Being Closeminded"

"The Novelty of Being Closeminded"

A Poem by Rain Kettle

Since when is it a sin to endure what is new?
I will kick and scream and I will cry and cry
Until I forget my own name amidst all of you
I damn well won't know it, but I'll still have my pride

And the waves will roll in, and pull me on out
Well I'll be waving to you with a flag in my hand
You'll say there goes that boy, where is he shipping off to?
And me I won't know 'til I hit where I land

And memories and fixations, they work kind've strange
You'll try to recall what was once I
But what you'll remember was what didn't change
What you'll remember is what wouldn't die

About
I'm a kettle that catches the rain. Whatever the hell that means. I'm a kid from Texas about 19 years old whose incoherent ramblings occasionally resemble something profound. Occasionally. more..
