You don't exist, of course, so I can speak as I like. I must admit I rather like that, since no one cares, and I have some freedom here.
The aim is not to offend anyone of course; I'm not a sadist. But neither do I mind seeing one cross his arms and listen grudgingly. I'm stubborn enough to plunge on. Sure, respond when you like. I love dialogue.
So there you have it; a celebration of something that isn't there. Then I think of it appearing --or disappearing. And either way, like death. ~
I didn't have any real friends or family to turn to when growing up, and I did keep a diary. It was a way of expressing myself, memorializing important feelings or events, and releasing pent up emotions. One day, I came home from school; and as I was walking up the steps, my mother's boyfriend was coming out of my bedroom, with my diary in hand, reading it out loud, and laughing. I was so angry and hurt and felt such a sense of betrayal. Needless to say, I destroyed the diary. My poetry began to be born shortly thereafter. Poetry became my way of expressing myself, memorializing important feelings or events, and releasing pent up emotions. Most of all, it was my way of sharing a bit of myself with the world. It's also a mirror for me, a way to look at myself honestly and openly.
It's all a bit of self reflection really, whether in a diary, in poetry, or in song. It's a way of knowing. It appears then disappears and then reappears in a new and more interesting way.
The diary doesn't exist, but the voice does inside of your head. I'm just grateful that you're not afraid to speak it.
Excellent!

I must confess, I never kept a diary. With a mind like mine, I never saw the need to. Of course, I did have a habit of keeping a flashlight handy, for whenever no one believed that my eyes were different colors. Lol, too bad our youth is spent so fast!
A nice example of creative writing concerning what first seems a cliché, or even an uninteresting subject. "Dear Diary" is a very interesting poem - the turn around (at stanza three) makes it particularly so. Culminating in an irrefutable truth (that does seem to resound like an anchor with some kind of fatalistic-cross-eastern philosophic principle)
Thanks for sharing, Dean.

Thank you, Charlie, for your sensitive and perceptive comment
Shifty and shadowy like balancing on a needle's edge I hope you don't feel you have to do so because poetry should flow like the rivers do and occasionally even they flow backwards

Some of my early works are quite different. Go back in the archives a way. The last 10 or so have really been experimental.
