We just had Christmas and I got to thinking about events that are real. Funny about that...now they are real only because we visit them again in memory.
I think I want to have more real experiences-- save them up from now on, until it's time to go. I think perhaps these folks are even better than the photos that they leave behind. Now only I may lose or find them.
Whoops! What joy, then when it comes my turn to stumble off the path; they'll come along, alive as anything! ~
Memories are imbued with our own colors. It's that inflection that breeds life into the memories, those moments that resonate with us on some deeper, soulful level. Sometimes, we live in the moment, not realizing that the mindfulness is storing the memories for later. Isn't it wonderful to relive those moments and revisit those wonderful people long after the moments have passed?
Love this!

I've meditated for years, but only recently have discovered more of the practical applications of mindfulness. What a subject! And ages of benefits descending through the lifetimes ahead.

I think with practice it becomes an easier thing to do. Take for instance ... One morning before work, I dropped my car off at the service statin to have an inspection done. It was only about 3-4 blocks away from my workplace so I decided to walk to work from there. As I was walking up the road, I noticed a rosebush blooming that was full of roses. It was so beautiful. I stopped to smell the roses and literally laughed out loud to myself when that saying came to mind, "Take the time to stop and smell the roses." I'm sure the people driving by seeing me laughing to myself thought I was nuts. LOL!

The past was real, and the memories are real, but they are two totally different things. One you can touch, the other only your mind and heart can feel. Valentine

I don't understand this. I hoped, readinng the first sentence of the second verse, that you wanted to deal with the present more than the past. But do you just want to meet people you left behind?
