In Reverie

A Poem by Dean

It was all there, it seemed.
The singing in the skies,
the echo of footfalls on the path ahead,
the flash of chiffon against the dying sun,
even the persistent softness
of the kiss I thought I felt
upon my cheek

.

All of it
but elements of dawning consciousness,
of premature awakening when dreams
surrendered to a cruel reality, for yes,
something was missing after all.
Someone the night, the day,
all time could celebrate...

You!

"the echo of footfalls on the path ahead,
the flash of chiffon against the dying sun..."

I'm not certain how this one got by me, but I am glad to have found it this evening. Such extraordinary lines, Dean, and the closure is stunning! Another favorite from you, and another to go in my library!

Are you sure you spell "dieing" that way? Or is it "dying"?
