Remembered Still

Remembered Still

A Poem by Dean

I see that you have locked me out
and in your zeal for cleanliness
have righteously set out to steal
my books, my makeshift bed, my tent,
my waiting breakfast, my lament
that those without such luxury
were with us only for a time
within Zucatti Park.

There is, however one possession
that you could not steal,
although I think you valued it
the least of all my treasures
swept away one night,
but I assure you that it's real,
forever yours--my gift to you,
the one I value most--
my love.

Your poetry is absorbing, Dean. The teacher within you resonates here, brilliantly.

As is yours. It is so good to see you here again.
Irony is always a treasured element of a poet and you utilized it with great effect here. Nicely done.
