My Best Friend

My Best Friend

A Poem by Sylvia Ransom
"

How would you feel if you fell in love with your best friend, but they were already with someone? Would you tell them and risk your friendship? Or would you not tell them and never have a chance?

"

My Best Friend

By Sylvia Ransom

It sucks to know,

No matter how hard I try,

You are with her,

And I don’t know why.

We are best friends,

We get along fine,

We laugh at each other and sometimes pretend,

Even though I really wish you were mine.

The way you aren’t afraid to touch me,

Just a light brush of your fingertips,

Is enough to make me dream,

And wish for the taste of your lips.

I should tell,

If you don’t already know,

That you’re an angel to me,

And I won’t let go.

I won’t let go,

Of this dream I have,

Of you and me,

And us in total harmony.

I love the way your hair stays the same,

No matter how much I mess or tousle it,

The way your eyes see into me,

You take my breath away with each word that you say.

You ask me why I am so quiet,

I have no answer cause then I’ll start babbling,

You smile and you hug me,

If only you knew,

Just how much I already am falling in love with you.

Doomed to be best friends forever,

But never able to be together,

I’ll fall in love with you now,

So in case we get the chance,

That’s one thing I already have for you to find out.

So hug me,

While I hurt,

Smile at me,

And remind me why I look,

Laugh with me,

And give me some hope,

But never ignore me,

Cause that would just hurt worse.

Look at me,

What a fool I am,

For being so dumb,

As to fall in love with my best friend.

I hope you can truly understand how I feel... Love can be hard, but maybe one day it'll be easier for me.

About
I am me. I am not your friend, I am not your enemy, I am myself, and I won't ever change because I am who I want to be. If you don't like that, well too damn bad. I have been pushed around and lied to.. more..
