A Letter To Death

A Letter To Death

A Poem by Vee

Dear Death I write to you,
In hopes you’ll understand
It’s been quite awhile
Since  blood has stained these hands

How have you been old friend?
I’m sure that you are fine
In coping with new hatred
And sipping your red wine

Yes, I still have nightmares
Entangled in my past
Open up a memory
And I will hit the glass

Oh death we were once old friends
But now I’ve got to say
I regret ever meeting you
Or entangling in this game
For no longer do you control me
Or immobilize me with fear
Death you do not intimidate me
I pray for you to be here.

And every night
And every day
I have to fight
These tears away

For what you’ve done
And I an accomplice
The loss of innocence
Is truly astounding

So come to me
My dear old friend
Take one more life
Please let mine end.
