Breathing For Yesterday

Breathing For Yesterday

A Poem by SydneyLynn

Breathing for Yesterday

Do you know I have a heart?

Can you see I’m falling apart?

Do you know I have a soul?

I just wanna be set free…

Can you tell me I’m wrong, can you tell me I’m right?

I listen to you but all I can hear are the sounds of the night

I look at you and you look at me, telling me that this is how it has to be

I hold on tight, looking for the sights but all I see is darkness

I feel out of place, I walk around aimless.

I’m forced to feel this way, and every breath I take

Is leaving me breathing for yesterday

I see myself falling looking out from above

Like I was shoved from my body, taking my breath away

Leaving me breathing for only my yesterday

No today and no tomorrow, can’t catch hold with all this sorrow

Life ending, heart bending, feelings shedding

It’s all got me breathing for yesterday

This was an excellent poem, very passionate in its message. You used the right diction for this sort of piece. The descriptions you used were vivid as well, you conveyed the sensation flawlessly. Some of the lines did feel a little choppy though, and it felt like the 4th line should have rhymed as well. Other than that I wwould say it is flawless.
