A Sea of Snaked With No Escape

A Sea of Snaked With No Escape

A Poem by SydneyLynn

A sea of snakes with no escape

Looking at me with those fiery eyes

A wave of dread has washed over me

I couldn’t move how hard I tried

It stole the breathe right out from under me

Never have I ever

Met someone as cold as you

There’s no overcoming this fear

Reserved for only you

You’re the reason why I falter

You’re my worst nightmare

Finally coming true

You see right through me

With your exaggerated face

Laced with blood

As you try to rise

The flames continue to burst

Through your dead, dead eyes

Can’t you see me cryin’?

Im dyin’ now

I'm stuck here in this awful place

Witnessing for the first time

A sea of snakes with no escape

I need to free myself from you; the beast

Who’s now lurking close behind

You see right through my mask

I'm trying to hide behind

I open my mouth to scream

Hoping to alert

Knowing I needed all the help I could get

About to do something I’ll forever regret

I clamp my mouth shut

And with a bite of the tongue

I force myself to sit there

Until my heart hits my lungs

I was well on my way to joining the ranks of every soul

Who’s come before me and failed

He’s already won, he’s on the role

He never loses this game

There was no way to regain my freedom

From which he already stole

I grind my teeth together

And pinch my eyes shut

Cursing the one’s that left me here

In my desperate time of need

Putting me forth into a situation like this

Alone, and with no training I was out of luck

Feeling me fall away from all that was bliss

He said,

 ‘Surrender to me now

And maybe you’ll survive.

Your never gonna win

As long as I’m alive.’

I was just about to beg

When you changed into the monster

From all my past years

Bringing me to the realization

He hadn’t tapped into my fears

He used the one’s most of us shared

It was only my belief that he had power over me

But now I see

It was just a lie

I have the power to defeat you

I always have

I said,

 ‘Surrender to me now

And maybe you’ll survive.

Your never gonna win

As long as I’m alive.’

As long as I'm alive!

As long as I'm alive!
