Ashes

Ashes

A Poem by CollapsedThoughts

Saturday
My kiss sets fire
Sunday
Our mouths and souls still glow
Monday
There is cold ash on my tongue
But you are still burning
And I don’t know what to say
to let you know that you’ve been burned
in the worst way
I told you I would break your heart
And you didn’t believe me
So who is to blame
for the burns that I leave
on everyone I’ve ever burned
everyone I’ve ever warned
everyone who left nothing
but ashes on my tongue?
If you won’t listen anyway
then who’s to blame and
what more can I say?

Your phrasing is most delicate and song-like, I find it festive even when the words are trying to be dark.
