She sleepwalks in her gossamer gown, while daydreaming of her once paramour. He sailed away never to be seen again beneath the stretch of the skys raceway. They met under the mulberry tree, a sweet blackberry rendezvous. In the shadows, she lingers wishing for those days of tic tac toe freckles and pigtails and blueberry muffins and butterfly kisses.
She didnt have a chance to say good bye because her tears would have flowed like the Mississippi river flowing into the backyard of another day.
She sleepwalks in the skeleton shadows of the night while in the sheerness and mist and the rainbow of the fog. Stepping through the Spanish moss; tripping over the garden snakes and the frogs yet to be a prince; and she remembers his little scar from here to China upon his chin and his cigarette hanging from his thin lips, down to the crocodile on his brass buckle.
and the love they once shared walking along the path where the goldfish pond used to be; where they used to skinny dip with their clothes on.
She awakened from her dream; still wearing her orange high heels, and does not remember the night before but the scent of a blackberry breeze, lingers near the back door of the 57 Chevy.
I like when someone sits down and just lets the words flow. So many things you didn't even know you were thinking of come to the surface. This feels like long lost love and long lost innocence all rolled up into a dream sequence. Nice change of pace, Rose. I like this side of your brain! (The other side is pretty cool, too!) Angi~

An endearing poem of love and dreams gone south in the skeleton shadows of the night(s). A lot of beautiful lines to quote. You keep on writing beautiful poetry and the Mississippi river will flood this site (compliment)...Splendid...:)

thank you Sami...it was fun writing it...could be called an abstract write too...not sure...:)
Loved the storytelling style of writing here. You've taken everyone on a trip through the mind of someone who loves pigtails & blueberry muffins. Great work SyberRose. An enjoyable read. :)
