Beyond

Beyond the lilac mist of the twilight

where tousled sheets and limbs entwine

and red lipstick on a satin pillow

are empty glasses of elderberry wine~

 

Beyond the burning wick of candlelight

still warm from the night before

is the whisper of passionate sighs

still lingering within French doors~

 

Beyond the halo of moonlight

where dark and the light kiss goodbye

and ravished skin once moonlight burned

vanishes with the question why?

A fleeting night of passion and then reality hits home that those glorious hours spent entwined under the moonlight alas have come to a conclusion and nothing further shall come from it !
