Saloon Moonshine

Saloon Moonshine

A Poem by SyberRose

Ghost winds moan in the night

in the bed of the desert,

beneath the sheets of moonlight~

Blood of coyotes boil within

listening to haunting sighs

of ghost legend sins~

Laughter in the air

and the saloon moonshine;

The Miss Kitty’s of the west

and the cheap red wine~

Ghost winds haunt the desert oasis

in the saddle of the night

is cowboy faces~

Mystic sand swirl within the dunes

as the voice of lovers moan

to haunting guitar tunes.

the old west ..southwest in particular holds an allure for me that started with me pa and the stories of louis l'amour ..your poem puts me right there as night creeps over the horizon .. a fine read for me! i think this "is cowboy faces~" sounds better with "are" cowboy faces .. reading your poem has given me many fond memories from my real life and my imaginations ..;)

Thank you so much...a nice change from romance ha...:)
Oo, cowboys and the old west. How uncomfortable their style of living was, and how dangerous on top of that. Vast mountain ranges, and hundreds of untold stories of adventure and life. Interesting write, and enjoyed. :)
