A Moonless Night

A Moonless Night

A Poem by SyberRose

Paint me a moonless night,
and no stars in the sky~

And I will surrender;
teach me how to fly...

Take me to the edge
until I can no longer climb~

Paint me a moonless night
just one more time...

Do not cuddle me like a sparrow
my eagle in flight~

Make me sing like a canary
'til dawns early light...

Make me flutter like a butterfly
in your net of passion~

Release my love
within my heart of emotion...

And if I fly away and never return~

Will the winds of a moonless night
In the nest of love yearn?

Passionate and beautiful.

I love the imagery and the repetition of the title. However, my favorite part is in the middle.

"Paint me a moonless night
just one more time..."

This has so much desperation and longing within it.

I thank you for an excellent read.

Do not cuddle me like a sparrow, my eagle in flight" Beautiful! Such a wonderful way to express the need for independence but then set off by the butterfly stanza with the fluttering free yet within a net. A deft and adroit hand indeed painted these words.
A bittersweet ending, hinting at the memories of love, or at least the hope that there will be memories of love, that remain long after the lover is gone.
Thank you so very much for sharing this.

I like the other worldliness about this, a sort of living surreal ness, if that's a word, but it would be weird and kind of spooky all that swirling mist.
