Dead Roses

Dead Roses

A Poem by SyberRose

The night becomes alive with dead roses,
their essence still in the air
wilted petals still bleed with passion
violins mourn this starry affair.
In the peaceful slumber of the night,
silhouettes quietly appear.
Behind the cobwebs of the fog,
a mist of lavender tears.
Whispers echo in the moonlight,
shadows come alive in the breeze,
dead roses soft as black velvet,
a wingspan of blackbirds in the trees.
The night becomes alive with dead roses,
but wilted petals still bleed with passion.

Haunting and slightly dark....a different subject from the other pieces I've read. Definitely like it though. ;-)

I believe we all do Rose...;-) and you're very welcome.
Good poem. It was... "mystical", and rather different. Usually, using a pattern of rhymes, or syllables make a poem flow, but this one didn't seem to need it. Nicely done

Lady Haversham came to mind when I read this Rose. Its powerfully evocative. Thanks. I don't know if Haversham is spelled right but its better than the 'spellchecker's' offer - it asked me - Did you mean "Aftershave?"

That is so funny....haa...thanks for peeking in Anto....glad you enjoyed...:)
Excellent imagery. The repetition of the lines about dead roses and bleeding passion were exquisite and I felt as if I had stumbled into a forgotten piece of Eden at night. The way this reads, I wouldn't be surprised to find this at the beginning of a novel set in Victorian era London.

Gentle and sweet, with that scorching heat just underneath the surface. Great read.

Thank you Brandon...nice to see you peeking in today...glad you liked...Rose:)
There is something about dried roses which represent, matured femininity, and of course the preservation traditions, the simple genius of using dead flowers to make a home, I enjoyed your unusual poem, thanks.

BRAVA!!!!!!!!!!!

"wilted petals still bleed with passion" - wonderful line! I like that it was brought back to end the piece after being used in the first stanza, it ties the piece together nicely.
Beautiful images, strong wording and well constructed.
Thank yo so very much.

'Lavender tears', what a lovely way to put it Rose. Funny this reminded me of when my sister turned 40 and I wanted to send her dead flowers as a joke, none of the florists would oblige me, said it made them look bad...ha. On the other hand, your dead roses are an amazing bouquet of what lost love feels like, I love this one.
