Cocoa Eyes

Cocoa Eyes

A Poem by SyberRose
"

Painting by Karen Conine/Fine Art America

"

His honey maple hair blows within the bayou

Sweet cocoa eyes dance like sequoia trees

A palomino tan gallops over his skin;

And his lips taste of succulent wild berries...

Bouquet of my lips filled the goblet of his heart

And enveloped with grapes of passion;

Overflowing the brim with a blush of sweet touch

And hint of vanilla candlelight...

But roving tides rushed in and candlelight drifted,

Upon gypsy waves of yesterday;

And the twilight of what could have been

Soon wilted within the blossom of the dawn.

I think the verbs you employ really build a rip-tide of drama in this and then the tension releases beautifully in the last paragraph. A very nice poem, Rose!

Well i think sorrow is a better instigator of great works than happiness
He does sound gorgeous, and too soon, the interlude wilts as dawn appears, but, oh, the memories of the short time time spent together - his cocoa eyes, palomino tan, honey maple hair...
I enjoy your vibrant descriptions...

Thank you Diane and dont forget those lips of wild berries. ha...thank you for peeking in today.
This is luscious, love that first line, reminds me of N'awlins...sounds like a one night stand, a good one at that. Last stanza is killer, very nice, much enjoyed this little romp Rose.

Was my pleasure, very much enjoyed this one Rose.
First, I have to say that you have painted a beautiful man with this poem - honey maple hair, sweet cocoa eyes, palomino tan, succulent berry lips - he sounds truly delicious! The poem is so lovely, romantic, and full of longing. Great piece, Rose!

:)
i have read this three times in order to glean the full impression you convey , and because my half-witted roomate has been vacuuming the hall outside my room for the last thirty minutes because my door is closed and they are trying to get my attention....any way, this is gorgeous and written with a light hearted and loving spirit which defines romance. well done!

I can envisage a melancholic caterpillar, ambling through the foliage, quite a character, lovely writing
