Do You Remember?

Do you remember when we used to walk along the path?
You know the one..where the pink dogwoods
and the snapdragons framed the babbling brook..
and the garden of monarda danced

with the emerald feathered hummingbirds

 as they quenched their thirst in the morning sun..

 

Do you remember?

 

Remember how we used to sit in the shade of the nook?
and we would dream that the day would never end
and the sky would always be a topaz blue,
and at night we would dream in each others arms
until the dawn would awaken us with
the scent of ballerina crab apples.

 

Do you remember how we would sit in the gazebo
and get lost in the ethereal moonlight?

You dont remember do you?...the way you said
i would never be old..you told me I was the prettiest girl you ever dated...

Remember when you whispered " I love you" for the first time, and I

did not hear you because you  whispered softly in my ear.

 

Where did those days go?

 

The love we once shared..was it just a preview
of an up and coming movie?..or just a flashback
of something to remember as we grow old...together?
