I loved you

I loved you

A Poem by StimulateyourCreativity
"

This is one of my first poems about a best friend I lost.

"
I love you,
I couldn't see life without you,
So insane thinking we were once inseparable,
"Boring days" weren't so boring with you,
No worry at all about what the future could do to us,
How did this happen,
How could the universe do this to us,
I'm fed up acting like were friends,
So please don't pretend,
I've lost the old you, I'll never see him again,
When your handing over the cash don't you ever think of the past?
Forget it, I know one day it'll pass,
But how often will you do this to yourself,
Bad wealth and worse health,
I did what I could to stop it,
And you always said you were stopping,
It's hard to make a dog quit begging,
So for us, please just stop using,
I'm done feeling that I'm at fault,
I've done what I've could and you don't appreciate it at all
Who would've thought that addiction would keep us apart

What i truly respected and dug about this piece of work was how honest it is. You didn't follow any rules and demands your full attention. There are lots of poetry about addiction, and many that try to sum it up with in the parameters of what word rhymes with what work and that limits ( in my experience) the true scope of the subject. This authentic and fresh and has an almost urban kick to it. Good Job

This felt like all the words had just honestly flowed out, it's a very expressive non-fiction free-verse, clear, simple and brief. It's like one out of the two sides of a tale of friendship, one perspective and it's nicely done, revealing just enough. A pair of friends with mutually same degree of intimacy shared is a rarity, one usually turns out to be more open than the other and that's where the cracks probably come from. A tragic and powerful poem.

Wow thanks it means a lot
Addiction does ruin so many relationships. Losing a best friend to it is hard. You can neither force them to come back nor can you accept what is going on.

thank you!! will do!
I liked the way you treated the loss of your friendship due to his drug use like a/the death of a loved one. It is a terrific analogy and it worked well in this application.

I know what you mean. It is for me too.
Introspect is a difficult approach to writing anything, It is not like a narrative where the words are just put together to give meaning. Here the words are felt, lived as if an experience, a fact one has suffered through and dealt with. To capture something like this in written words one must be very talented or one has stood in these shoes and viewed life's cruelties in person. Either way it was an excellent poem, thank you for inviting me to read it, it was well worth the trip :~)
