Happiness

Happiness, 

You found me, when I least expected you and my life was astray. 

You introduced yourself in such a welcoming way, with wide open arms I asked you to stay. 

I was so pained, I was so frail; but you coped me up and changed my pace. 

You erased my anguish and drew a smile on my face.  

You wrapped me up while I was feeling so stressed.  

You filled me with laughter and made me feel blessed. 

But once you sunk in, deep into my heart; 

Reality struck me, and my dream fell apart. 

You are ephemeral, without gain. 

If you ever leave me, I will drown in deep pain. 

Why did I meet you? To watch you slip away? 

I reach out my hand to grasp you, but you're too far away. 

I wish I could feel you, and hold you in my arms. 

I wish you could love me, and protect me from harm. 

And if I could attain you, I would never let go. 

I'd imprison you in my heart and you'd make it glow. 

With you, my life would shine with so much bliss.  

Your ray of light would strike me like a kiss. 

Oh happiness, why can't I just have you? 

Why is it so complicated? I really wish I knew? 

Although our distance pains me, I keep holding on to you, 

Because you mean so much to me, and all I think about is you. 

What does the future hold for us, only Time will tell.  

I hope it will be bright or I might sink into hell.

There's something about this poem that constantly draws me in; I can't tell you how many times I've read this, dreamt this only to decide to reread it again to see if I could visualize a different expression, scenario or perspective; hopes and smiles. You really do have so much talent, and I'm hoping to see so much from you :) I just hope it'll be Happiness you write it with, lest it becomes a bitter-Sweet experience :P And although I hope you keep Happiness nearby you should keep in mind other things too :P Maybe just not mind them as much? A little variety wouldn't be too bad every now and then?

Another poem by you that leaves me impressed! I kept thinking of happiness as a person, like someone you were in love with, it really brought a greater human feeling to the poem. I love the imagery and development.

Your thoughts are spot-on lol. I personified happiness, so it had double meaning.
Yep, reality always comes back and give us a big slap in the face, saying "stop daydreaming, it's time to wake up !!!" XD

This is wonderful!! It reminds me of how I feel/felt when I started going out with my boyfriend. He brought so much happiness into my life that I was constantly fretting about how I'd ever cope if I lost him, and at one point I did. This poem speaks so much truth and I adore how well you have written it. The story it tells I can totally relate to. I've found it impossible to fault. Excellent writing, make sure you continue on this road of talent :)

I'll keep working hard and try my best to get better, hoping that more people will be able appreciate my writings.
But enjoying it myself and having a few friends appreciate it, is already a great gift that I'm thankful for ^_^
