They say murder is our greatest sin.
Victory is outcome from the wars that we win.
Thousands killed in the fields we walk.
Demented images repelling men to talk.
With terror in their eyes and hearts stone cold.
Running with A.K.s , he's only twenty years old!
Grenades in their hands and children on the bus.
Tell me where God was to save all of us?
In search of peace for all of man kind?
Deep in these souls is no truth to find.
Government lies where pensions don't last.
Compelling these soldiers to relive there past.
this is absolutely brilliant
am i right in thinking the last line is about how even after war, the memory and trauma of what they were involved in is forever relived........people now talking about it, refusin to share the truth....everything dampened down until it is okay to show on the 6pm news.
so sad......and unfortunatley too true
you were right....i did enjoy this piece
it was wonderful and the message about war is clear
great work

yeah as an african i see my brethen displaced by uncalled conflicts. genocide because of selfish interests.
your piece is well penned and the theme is indeed strong. well done
I take it you have never fought for your country, and that is ok but writing about something you don't know about is well silly. last lne you have there it should be their. Tony
This is a very touching poem, but a powerful voice against the horrors and suffering caused by war that continue even after the conflict is over. Very well written, and thanks for sharing...
Do you mean "relive" or "relieve" at the end. I was a little lost there. Other than that, I do think that this is a beautiful work on war. It's tough giving such an ugly matter such a heartfelt emotion. I think that the flow worked very well, and all the words complimented one another. I would probably fully abbreviate A.K.'s. When I got to that part, I read it just as it was written "aks".
This is a good poem about war. I like that you mention that the negative affects of war outlive the soldier's pensions. There are lots of war poems (hell, I've written several), but I've never seen one mention a pension before.
