LoservilleA Poem by S. OverstreetThis poem is for the people who want more for themselves than what their city, neighborhood, town, or even country seems to offer. Enjoy.Loserville
Silence, Taking over my mind like a dictator I can hear my heart beat. As it increases, Decreasing the peace once there. I could’ve been anything, But I decided to give in to What was expected of me: More or less. I’m breathing. Less Or maybe a little more than half of my decisions are made from what my environment declares. The Declaration of Idiotic Treads. Be nothing, Do nothing Except for when it’s necessary Which is when the corner store closes And the lights go out. I want to be more than what my environment says. More than even my mind can phantom. Then I won’t feel like such a failure. There’s no happiness when empty is your life. All but nothing can explain. Nowhere to turn but down. Shaking my head. Another day, Another death. Waiting for when I can exhale, But I won’t. It’ll cause my lungs to collapse, Because then I’ll have to inhale the humiliation, The fear, Lack of respect, Jealously, Revenge. I am NOT a product of my environment ‘cause hope and determination do not equal Where I am… Loserville. © 2013 S. OverstreetReviews
