Voices of Ancient Avalon

Voices of Ancient Avalon

A Poem by Page Rae Bickel

Dance the evening storms
Celebrate secret winter mornings
Dream of perfect love
Wander across ancient streams
Deep red warm gold
Dark and strange the stories
Turn a thousand breathless
Like a child with a whispering song
It shall be like soft falling rain
Falling endlessly through the night
Calling you back to times of old
Thick blankets of mist
Kissing the emerald lands
Making them mysterious
Like stone henge
Echoing ancient secrets
Voices of ancient avalon
Coming and going with the fog

Celebrate secret winter mornings
You know, I think I will.

This poem is wonderfully redolent of ancient myths of Britain being a hidden land, unknown and unknowable.
