For each other

For each other

A Poem by Melanie Genevieve

Euphoric personalities
gliding on concrete sheets
lulling our cities to sleep
with neon lights and elusive
promises

Promises made to folks
clamoring for a way back to themselves
returning to selves lost in pieces
lost time like shards of Excalibur
wedged into the heart

Heart aching for release
so numb we don’t feel
suffocating under more
resist, submit, repeat
combating exhaustion with bad habits

Bad habits leaving us senseless
mirroring mistakes til we’ve misplaced our vision
trying to build rocket ships
with road maps
wondering why it’s leading us nowhere

reflect on your perspective
happiness is not a purchase
Or a person away
we must nurture it
within ourselves

"Resist, submit, repeat" powerful. This has a good flow to it, i like it.
