A Poem by Melanie Genevieve
"

This is an old poem

"
I will spend my nights
Plucking your scent
Out of every fiber of my being
Removing you
From every corner of my body
Locking away intimate memories
In the depths of the ocean
Letting the crashing of the waves
Drown out all the lingering
Could haves and should haves
I will spend my days grappling with the fact
that i have to let memories live where we grew them
I cannot send them back to you on little sailboats
for there is nothing to recieve them
There is only pain and storms that seem to rage on forever
You never left the light on
Never even gave me a way to navigate some sort of friendship
Nothing was salvaged
Nothing but these invincible washed up memories
left here to torment me

Walking away from a relationship is so hard… no matter how much you try there will be some baggage from it that weighs you down subliminally. Very well written poem.

this is so intense...the imagery is startling...the feeling of immense loss...nothing could be salvaged, not even a friendship...

a battered ship of a relationship...taking on water from too many tears shed...

the wreckage washed up on a shore where you are but a distant memory...

really excellent poem...love the wording of this.
