my biggest fear is writing

writing him letters that he’ll never read

letters that won’t be enough to fill the void

the space between us will tick

like chinese water torture

if only i could build a bucket out of my words

to catch the water, pause it’s rhythm 

If only I could hold him with my metaphors and imagery

build myself out of my words

build a home for him in the delicate sheets 

a warm blanket on a cold winter night

a heartbeat to rest his tired head upon

a soft hand to hold when things get rough

Nice words. My heart breaks with what the poem reads but on a lighter side if he loves her then the words will be enough. It would suck more to let the fear stop from saying words that will never be read at all.

Your welcome. But I empathize with you in the fact that long distance sucks not just for the receiver but the sender too. Since you can't fold your heart up and send in to them you know.... Love your words though very well written.

wow i relate to this...was in a few long distance relationships...one girlfriend was in poland...we wrote letters for two years...but then the distance wore us down...

i am in one now, but luckily we can talk every night...

and she is in NC and lives right by my folks so i see her when i go there.

i love the way you wrote about writing yourself into a metaphor and imagery that would dazzle him...keep his interest...

they ain't easy, those long distancers..
