ShoesA Poem by Melanie GenevieveThis is a combination of two poems I wrote. It was inspired partly by busy streets, alan watts and partially by-Clementine von Radics, “Prayer For a Friend”I have multiple pairs of the same shoes which I alternate regularly I live my life inside out setting my alarm with no intention of letting time pass me by I walk the streets of New York with stories woven into flexible shoes the culture rides on their soles going with them wherever they go they carry my years on worn out heels I wear them and tear them scattering bits and pieces across the globe they've experienced more than most other shoes befriending humble Jimmy Choos and cocky chinese slippers they've walked alongside identical polished business shoes rushing to work sometimes they feel insecure next to a pair of lovely red high heels but they know they can do anything they set their mind to They are my closest companions they know my secrets, the places I've been They are the holster for my weapons because when I travel I am on a mission to turn this world inside out with my stories to turn people inside out with my experiences I want their souls to taste the unity I feel when I walk out into the world to know that we all have a home we build within ourselves and each other that we are the universe experiencing itself I have multiple pairs of the same shoes every time I slip on a new pair I make room for all of the new memories that are yet to come © 2013 Melanie GenevieveReviews
