This is a work of fiction. All of it, characters and places, are pure invention on my part, including every detail I give about Columbia, South Carolina. Except Piggly Wiggly. There really is such a grocery store and it would be beyond me to think up a name so ridiculous. But all else is a figment of my imagination.
