Chapter 3- New Home

Cassie's POV

After a 5 hour flight we finally arrived in California and it's already past 10. Christoph said that we'll have another 1 hour or so to drive from here to LA. We stop by at McDonalds to grab some food.

After a tiring drive finally we arrive at a huge mahogany glass house.

Wow, I never thought they are rich.

Christoph took my bags even if I insisted I can carry it, he said he will never let his younger sister carry heavy stuffs. I just smiled at him and said thanks. His really playing the good older brother thing, and I appreciate it.

When I step inside, Christoph said I could sit on one of the couches while he called his mom. As I made myself comfortable, my eyes seems to wonder around. The inside is so sophisticated but you can feel that its homey enough. The furniture's are all classic wood which really contrast to the glass that surrounds the entirety of the house. The cushions are white or brown. I wonder if Christoph feels alone whenever his mom is not around.

Finally I see a woman step in the living room. Maybe early 30's. She's wearing a grey pencil cut dress with a white coat over it. Her hair is blond like Christoph but her eyes are like mine crystal blue. And I'm guessing she's my aunt.

"Cassie dear" she engulf me in a tight hug

"Hi! Aunt Mia!"

"Oh, you've grown up so beautifully" as she cupped my face

"Thanks" and smiled awkwardly

"Now, now you must be tired, I just came home from the office. Christoph can show your cousin her room, and I'll change quickly and prepare for a dinner"

"Come on sis" Christoph whispered as he grabs my hands

I glance at Aunt Mia and her face was in total shock.

"What did you say?" she turns her head to Christoph

"Ahm, Come on sis?" Christoph shrug

"Sis?" Aunt Mia raise her eyebrows

"Yep, mom. I promise her that I'll treat her as my own sister from now on"

"Oh, that's great!" and she move forward and ruffled his hair and in return Christoph scowl at him

"Now, now, why don't you call me Ma" aunt Mia suggested and a suddenly a thought of having a mother again feels like off and I hesitated

"Uhm, I'm not sure... If that's... you know... "

"Oh, that's okay... I won't push you" she assured me and give her a weak smile

 

Finally Christoph open the door which I assumed my room. I suddenly halted in my tracks when I step inside.

"What's wrong?" Christoph ask

"Ahm, are you sure it's okay that I sleep in here for the rest of the year?"

He chuckled. "Of course, you're not just some guess your my cousin and now your my sister" and he ruffled my hair and I slap it

"Ow!" and I peck a kiss on his cheek.

"Thanks" I mumble and he closes the door for me to settle down

I arranged my things into the closet and some of the pictures that I bring with me from home. I stared at my family's portrait. I miss them so much, that it hurts. Every time I think about them makes me wanna go wherever they are right now. I just feel so empty, like a hollow that no one will be able to fill.

But maybe this a good change. I smiled at the thought that Christoph is taking care of me, his acting like my older brother, I like it. I really do, but at the same time I hate it. It reminds me of my loving brother whom I've lost.

My room is spacious enough. The ceiling is wooden and my bed is a queen size. I also have my own bathroom and I have a balcony which is awesome. I also have a couch and a glass table across it.

I smiled and maybe when I'm here, I'll be able to heal. Maybe Christoph and Aunt Mia will be able to help me build a new me. And as I let my feet drag me to bed, I close my eyes, I know that I'm holding on to that maybe.

My eyes flutter and I glance at the clock, I've been asleep for almost two hours.

I took a shower and when I step out there is someone lying in my bed. Who is it?

His hair is blonde so maybe its Christoph and I walk closer to it and I was sure Christoph's hair is dirty blonde not a dark brown blonde. I stop in my tracks and scream.

The door burst open and I saw Christoph standing there walking towards me.

"Hey! What's wrong?" He hug me even if I'm dripping wet because I'm just wearing a towel around my body. But as if I did not hear him. I was focusing on the guy who is in a sitting position and his grey eyes look at me annoyed. His hair is disheveled and he has no shirt on. He's gaze still on me and back to Christoph.

"Who are you?" I ask him and finally Christoph look at him and I can see a scowl on his face

"What are you doing here?" Christoph ask at the same time

"Nothing, just taking a nap, and maybe getting answers as to why my buddy left me behind and went to Florida" Oh my, his sleepy voice is sexy

"Well, I'll give you answers but get out!" Christoph half yelled to the guy who's identity to me is still unknown yet

"Okay! Chill! I didn't thought you'll bring a chick in here. Jeez" He stand up and put a shirt on

"His not a random chick idiot!" Christoph hissed

"Oh, really now? So, is she the real deal?" he asked while he move forward and glance at me

"Say another word to my sister Jace and I'll break your pretty face" and he was taken aback

"I didn't know you have a sister?" His face turns into a frown

"Well, I do have now and let's talk outside" and with that, they just left me behind in shock

 

After a minute of processing what happened, I finally decided to changed into blue shorts and white t-shirt with I heart U in the front of it, and grab my blue flip flops and braided my hair sideways. 

I went down the stairs and I saw Christoph and Jace-guy and a couple of more people. And I wanted to go back inside because all eyes are staring at me. Well, isn't it awkward.

"Cassie, this is my friends Josh( he pointed to the dark brown guy, with a forest green eyes and he looks cute maybe a year older than me) Nathan and Kylie the twins( Nathan and Kylie both have a golden hair and they have brown eyes, maybe they are in my age and tell you frankly they are both georgeous) and lastly there is Jace (of course the guy earlier)"

"Hi!"and I wave my hand at them and I was taken aback when Kylie hug me

"Oh my gosh! You're so pretty. Finally I have someone I can talk too!" and she gave me a full smile flashing her white teeth

"Uhm, thanks. You're pretty too" I hug her back awkwardly

"Uhm, come on, I'll give you a tour around" she grab my arms and drag me to the door.

"Kylie, give her a break. Maybe she wants to tour this house first before the outside" Nathan suggested.

"Yah, Kylie give her a break" Josh scolded her and Kylie just stuck her tongue out

 

After they give me a tour inside the house, Aunt Mia called us for dinner.

They talk like they have known each other and I was just listening to their jokes. On how Christoph have his first heartbreak when he was 12. About how Kylie dyed his hair into brown but the outcome become orange, don't ask me how did it happen. About how Josh is a womanizer and how Jace become the prom King by accident.

Suddenly I felt a gaze on me. And as I look up, I found Jace looking at me. His grey eyes piercing at me, so I look down and eat my food. After the dinner I volunteered to wash the dishes  and Christoph help me along with Jace. Josh got a called from his mom and the twins decided to go home. I enjoyed listening to them, I feel the warmth of having someone inside a house after a long time.

While drying the plates, Christoph suddenly leave but before that he give a signal to Jace that I can't quiet grasp.

"So, Cassandra" I was shock on how I like the way he called my name

"Hmm?" But of course I'm good at hiding my feelings

"About earlier, I just wanted to say sorry" And here I thought his a guy with a high pride

"It's okay, no big deal" I wave my hand to indicate that it's really okay

"Okay, cool" and he nods and finally walk back to Christoph

It was already past 10 and Jace decided to go home and I flank in my bed. It was a long day and hopefully my tiredness will help me to sleep the whole night.
