Hairday

A Poem by Sofie

In case that you do not know how to talk to me
I would like to say
How shimmery-wonderful your hair happens to look when it carries itself through the air
And when the wind works itself through
How the random batch of softness sometimes blows around and sometimes sticks straight up
More like the head of a carrot then a doll's head

But that doesn't make much sense to you
As you run your fine-toothed comb down your scalp
Creating a silent fingernails-on-chalkboard sound down my spine
And I watch
As the tuft at the bottom maintains its glow

While you show your shy smile.

I understand! I can relate! This is a wonderful write. You either encounter one who has no idea what to say to you, or someone who says too much. I can see that you are incredibly creative with your words. I have found that it's almost easier to hide this gift. There seems to be no room for feminine brilliance wherever the male ego is found.

Sometimes that's why I am drawn to the quiet, not so bright type. It's easier that way.
