Fools Gold

Fools Gold

A Poem by SweeTLoU

ominous beauty your words contradict
a flower in a garden needing picked
poison petals tempting fate
with that euphoria you create
meant to be admired from afar
like the radiant light in a midnight star
it disappears before the dawn
the you i knew is dead and gone
just like that star in the sky
i see a beauty that long ago died
sparks and shards of what used to be
now nothing but a memory
still i stand in the garden cold and hardened
hearing your words and i beg your pardon
you can pose as a rose or the salt of the earth
but aesthetically pleasing is all that you're worth

Nice poem! I love the idea that some people are "fools gold" with only skin deep beauty, and some people are "pure gold" and are beautiful through and through. I get the message of: don't be fooled by the fools gold.
