The Only Way

Gazing at stars that don't know my name

Ive lost all feeling in this foolish game

 

for what merit is loss, what merit is gain

if its not from the cross, my Saviors pain

 

this life forsaken on the altar of despair

but i replace my fear with faith repaired

 

i cannot remember the time last

when i didn't spend all night dwelling on my past

 

all the worry, what time wasted,

all the anguish, what turmoil tasted

 

if would but live for His love, accept His grace

From Heaven above, no one could replace

 

but i do not do, what I know i should

had i the power i could, i would

 

in me is nothing clean, i'm powerless alone

a testament to be, the mercy of His throne

 

for Him without me, is existence in perfection

but me without Him, my soul's dereliction

 

how can i pretend to be all on my own

for without Him, my identity is unknown

 

no, no, I won't try

if i try life alone, i will surely die

 

in Him is life, love, joy, and peace

though pain and trials they will not cease

 

but so deserving I am, every ounce of worldly pain

because He suffered for me, broken by my bane

 

through His strength I praise Him, every passing day

because without Him i'm lost, He is the only Way
