The KnifeA Story by Swagatika BeheraIts a story of a little girl who is being raped. She didn't see the face of the rapist and takes the help of a super cop. Let's see what happens...
Angelina’s mom took her to a renowned police officer of the town. The super cop asked her mom to leave them alone so that he could interrogate her and intricate the matter. He calmed her down giving her a glass of water and said, “Relax. Don’t worry, we are with you. Just elaborate the whole thing that happened that day so that we can help you out”
With stammering lips, she narrated... "Like any other morning I woke up with the sun rays kissing me. She whispered softly, “wake up my girl, you are late for your college” accompanied by her fingers spread on my forehead. I opened my eyes and started my day looking at her smiley face to start my day in a cheerful mood. But today is something different… extremely different… rather it’s scary… I didn’t find my mom when I opened my eyes… where is she??? In fact, where am I??? Ohh!!! I can feel the cold and misty air today… There is no sun rays kissing me today… I can feel the earth shaking beneath my body… What is happening??? I can’t figure it out… I am just sure about one thing that it’s not my room and I don’t know this place… It’s a mysterious obscure place..!!! I am not lying on my bed… It’s too hard and cold… ‘am I lying on the street?’ Yes, I can feel the cold… There is nothing over me… NOTHING!!! It means I am naked... What!!! Where are my clothes??? Where am I??? I can feel the darkness deep hollow around me… there is no sunrays, no source of light, nothing…. My heart is sinking… I can’t figure it out… I can feel cicatrices on my body… What exactly happened at night??? Millions of questions ran in my mind… I squeezed my eyes and tried to recall and figure out things… I am surrounded by the street lights. It was night and I was getting late for my home. I was in a hurry to reach home. The street I was going through was something like an isolated one. I can hear the footsteps. I got frightened. I started walking fast but the footsteps followed me… I started to run, still the footsteps didn’t leave me… Tears were rolling down my eyes and I was running… suddenly a hand closed my mouth and pulled me into a dark woody place… I couldn’t see his face as he was wearing a mask… “Stop it, just stop it!” I wailed, but he wouldn’t. His husky voice chuckled in my ear. I could feel the rough skin on his hand caressing my arms harder and harder. “calm yourself darling, you are too nervous” he taunted, pulling me closer to his bare body. The stench of beer irradiated of him was choking me, but I was unable to escape his grasp… I kicked and kicked but he didn’t budge. Laughing hysterically at my attempts he was too drunk and horny to care. He sniggered hands sliding slowly down to my waist. I tried to scream but it was trapped at the back of my throat and all that came out was whimpering. The more I resisted, the harder he pushed. It hurt. The pain of his controlling grip pulled me down. My mind was numb and body paralysed. All I wanted was for it to stop. Losing my fight, I let go. What more could I do? All that I could figure out during my struggle was a tattoo of a knife on his shoulder. I don’t remember anything more. The next day I opened my eyes lying on a street being unclad. After quenching his thirst, he left me there naked to die." She started to cry loudly. She was trembling. The police officer calmed her down and gave another glass of water. Squeezing her shoulders, he said, “You have come to the right place. All your puzzles are solved now.” A smile with malicious glee frightened her. She couldn’t understand anything until she looked at the tattoo on his shoulder, the knife… -Swagatika Behera © 2018 Swagatika BeheraAuthor's Note
