Shallow Waves

Shallow Waves

A Poem by Suzy Hazelwood
"

That defining memory... when the one you thought was your soul mate...isn't. :o(

"

I see you
wading in shallow waves
the radiance of sun-kissed skin
hunting seashells
like none found before

As if the discovery
of the unique
buried in a million grains of sand
would prove
no-one could adore me
more than you

I only desired
to be kissed by moonlight
and still find you
wanting me at dawn

While you searched
the worthless
I argued
with the rising scream
and ached for love

Stupendous choice of words! And I feel your screaming, your aching so loudly, so ferociously, so passionately. And it is so disheartening when you feel so much love and passion for another who doesn't even notice you, is looking for superficial relations. Alas, love isn't always reciprocal!

It seems to happen a lot, and your sequence of micropoems captures it perfectly. I am a little taken aback that presenting her with a unique sea shell isn't going to work.

I loved the parallel between the ocean and a crush. Very relate-able. Wonderful word play and awesome theme

I have been there... it amazes me the bruising our heart endures, and keeps beating.

I so wanted to hear the ocean! Lovely penning, Suzy!

oh, how bittersweet this write is and so apt...unfortunately, I know this all too well..wanting that single person to be the one and realizing it's not going to happen is crushing...but, we pick-up, loosen the grip on the one sided love, and move forward...nicely-done, Suzy
