Our Last Embrace

Our Last Embrace

A Poem by Mariana Silva
"

Written with no one in mind and yet...it came out to be something akin to a poem for comfort and reassurance.

"

Maybe, in the end, this is where we've come?

Have the lies and deceipt stopped here?

Alone, figure these questions and sleep.

No longer does the cold bite at you.

Lonliness may terrify some,

But whenever you need me, I'll be near.

You say the mountain is too steep,

And that you don't know what to do...

Well, let me tell you,

You aren't going to give up.

You aren't going to cry tears of sadness.

Stand tall and smile hon.

I know you hurt, but others do too.

We all have days when we can't keep our chins up

But we can't be beat by our sadness.

This is what I needed to tell you hon.

When life is cruel,

Stand tall and be proud.

Another day has been survived,

And there are still many more to embrace.

I know the world can be cruel,

But of you, I am proud.

Hon, you've survived...

I can still feel your heart from when last I held you in my embrace...
