The PitifulA Poem by Mariana SilvaLook in the mirror and explore what lies in the depths of your eyes, the sight might terrify you. When the blind man leads, All others follow. Not a flaw to be found, He longs for nothing For lack of sight. Pity not those emplth pleads Which you find hard to swallow. Instead, be mezmerized by the blind man's movements. Watch, and don't make a sound. Watch and listen as the deaf man starts to sing.. From his tragic song, pull might! The deaf man does not suffer For lack of sounds which would otherwise, amount to nil. He does not need to hear In order to smile and sing. Unbroken, like his spirit, his song carries Into the sould of those broken hearts around him. Both men are rejoicing in summer Celebrating that life is never a standstill For, it is a standstill they fear. The dance speeds up as for the words he sings, As if enchanted by fairies. Nothing around them seems dim.
The irony of life Is that those pitied, Are often strong and no longer want For the unsatisfying material world. Fools are those stuck in this reality Enchanted are those who appreciate life. © 2008 Mariana SilvaAuthor's Note
