On The Day You Were Born

On The Day You Were Born

A Poem by Suzanne Deakins

On The Day You Were Born

On the day you were born

The stars shown upon the earth

The moon lit the path

And the velvet night waited

The ocean waves

rolled upon the sands

making a new path

birds sang and fish swam

On the day you were born

Flowers bloomed and

trees grew

fruit came to be

The lush green of the world

Pulsed

Knew

Became

On the day you were born

I knew purpose

Your name was in the stars

and written upon the sands

My hand reach beyond all time

to touch the softness of your skin

wanting to know the flow of your life

feeling the warmth of your heart.

On the day you were born

My heart took flight

eyes saw clearly  as the world waited

I knew you would be with me

Waiting for you to walk the

silky path of life

see your stars in the sky

lay upon the sand the waves have kissed

On the day you were born

Life came to be

Love bloomed

and I had purpose.
