Only In The SpacesA Poem by Suzanne DeakinsOnly in the spaces Only in the spaces do I find you. Your wrapper hidden behind In the spaces I find no time Looking for the meaning In the spaces between Nothing knowing nothing Nothing experiencing nothing No existence No meaning Turning slowly to see what will not be seen Slowly knowing that which has no meaning I rolled over onto my back on our bed on the ceiling is a spider Never noticed how much went unnoticed Soft light filters through our window falling gently on the dust on the floor I suppose I should get up and dust, Darkness and numbness fill my head today Failing to notice what we don’t notice we haven’t, cant, wont change we must see what we don’t see, looking in the spaces to find us Wrappers bumping wrappers Flesh against flesh Finding No Time No meaning in the space between Looking in the spaces to find us Trying to see what we didn’t see Cant change us until we see what would not be seen Looking at the edge of the wrappers What formed the edges? Failing to notice the spaces we did not know existed. Turning on my side kitchen needs cleaning I suppose I should do the dishes.
