Wasting Away

Here I am wasting away

thought it would be alright

wasted love on

winding streets of the metropolis

Wasting away

connections lost

secluded goals

shattered in the dank gray

Same hopes as yesterday

endowed at dawn

gray streaks wasting the sun

still no purpose

Endless concrete

long walk home

wasting away on the

city’s gray paths

Wasting away

taunted by windows closed

tainting my soul for a season

endless concrete

Suspended personalities

strolling aimless

life not sensed

senses not seen

Endless concrete

no purpose

something last night

wasting away

At first I had trouble getting into the flow of your writing. Once I got half way, I was really into the poem. I liked the descriptions and I was able to actually imagine someone wasting away leading a monogamous life with no end in sight. I could feel the anguish emitting from this poem.
