Letter to RealistA Story by Suyash SisodiaDear Forever, You are an exquisite lie, overrated and adored. The girl you met in class 10th who promised to be there forever, is now but a memory. The selfies you click today with ‘forever’ as caption would soon be lost in the maze of time. Those “everlasting” bunch of friends you have, will cease to be a part of your life soon. The girl you fell with who you fell in forever-kind-of-love in 12th standard won’t even come visit your dreams today. So tell me one thing, why pile up all those lies and hollow promises and build a castle out of it? Why live in a pseudo-paradise which will break sooner or later? The answer is, you don’t. Trust me when I say that when the clouds of this paradise disperse, a void is left behind in your heart, you scream as you see your happiness being sucked out of you bit by bit until you are left with zilch. You will be terrified of your own name, your own voice and you’ll see the darkness engulfing what little remains of your glum life and trust me when that time comes, you will be too exhausted and fuddled by the torments you faced already to make a final run. You will be sucked down into a deep dark pit of loneliness and pain where the only sounds heard will be your own breath and heartbeat and at that moment none of your 'Forever" will come to rescue you, none of them will be there reaching out their hand to pick you up, you will be left to rot in this place, where you’ll be tortured till your soul screams and you beg to die, beg to find someone to euthanize you. You proclaim hell is bad, but this will be way worse because, in the end, nothing lasts forever. Yours, The Realist.
