ABSURD IMAGESA Poem by Roger TurgeonTruth in absurdityABSURD IMAGES Blue-eyed ducks primp in gold veined mirrors Their chosen shade of lipstick giving me the shivers Seventeen matchstick men run from the fire Proclaiming each other and themselves to be a liar Midget minstrels wail on a barbed wire fence Singing memories of long ago and everything hence Scar faced pigeons write poems on the blank wall Just outside the Starbucks at the Allenstown mall Tattooed oranges dance at a Renaissance Revival Where statues to cockroaches celebrate their survival Pock-marked prostitutes sell plastic bibles and more Still soliciting for money, this time at your door Three-legged pirates on rubber band yachts Draw maps to the treasure and their funeral plots Churchgoing felons proclaim faith while they’re giving As dead flower bouquets mark the graves of the living © 2014 Roger TurgeonReviews
